Zebra Katz / Michael Hafftka

Zebra Katz / Michael Hafftka

Oliver Luckett, CEO of The Audience, messaged one of my favourite artists Michael Hafftka a track by  Zebra Katz.  Michael always seeing the art and the artist was keen to paint Zebra ;the musical creation  of 26-year-old artist Ojay Morgan, who describes himself as “black, queer and ‘other.’  Zebra has supported Lana Del Rey and has been making waves since fashion designer Rick Owens chose to use his formidable Ima Read at Paris fashion week.  Using his sexuality as a postive message he stands up as a strong, black gay man, which in the world of Hip Hop and Rap is not often seen.  Drama, art, fashion, music, and a very strong character we were intrigued to see how Michael would portray Ojay/Zebra. Elena Caravela Interview

Elena Caravela Interview

I asked Elena to take part in The Palette Pages interviews after falling in love with one of her ‘divide’ paintings.  Work that displayed a haunting beauty and depth, portraying a soul that looked out at me from the canvas.  I was truly inspired and completely in awe of her art, the way she captured the eyes, the emotion, the heart and the personality of whoever she was painting.  Looking further into the work of Elena Caravela I realised that she is an exceptional artist, a creator of such immense talent, diverse and prolific in her output, an artist that is not tied to one medium, placing importance on character and passion.   Elena Caravela is an artist, an illustrator of children’s books, a writer, a teacher, a woman that promotes the art of others, she is without doubt inspirational within the creative world and someone I admire and respect,  Thank you so much Elena for sharing your work with us.
