David J Markham is an artist that is influenced by music and life creating a body of work that includes paintings and photography. Expressive and abstracted depictions of buildings, emotive figurative compositions, sill life paintings and live music photography that captures the intensity and passion of performance.  A self-taught artist that has found his style, injecting an element of romance into his distorted expressions in an intense and impactful way.  Most recognised for his pen and wash architectural paintings David is a diverse artist that produces work that captures his love of life, his love of music and his innate passion for art. David has held several solo exhibitions in Yorkshire and at the Great North Art Show in Ripon. Miniature war sculpture could raise £150,000 for The Royal British Legion

Castle Galleries is hoping to raise more than £150,000 for The Royal British Legion in the UK through the sale of miniature limited edition sculptures by one of its leading artists.

‘Never Forgotten’ by Nic Joly is a poignant commemorative piece to mark the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.

The artist, who is known for his minuscule pieces of sculptural theatre, has created 1,566 bronze pieces, reflecting the number of days that the First World War was fought, and they will be sold through Castle Galleries from August 4, 100 years to the day that Britain declared war on Germany. Joly has also included information on the back of every one to explain what happened on that particular day, making each one unique. (more…)

Darice Machel is an artist who lives on the beautiful Island of Maui, we are beyond jealous of her location and her talent.  Darice creates oil and acrylic paintings influenced by a love of nature and her daily surroundings.  She is an incredible artist that has grown up surrounded by art; her mother is a fine art oil and watercolor artist and gallery owner.  Darice has spent years developing her talent and now owns her own art school teaching the fine art of oil and acrylic painting to children and adults.

Often people say art is a way of life and never has it been more true than with Darice, her world and her occupation is centered around an exceptional talent and love of art.  Teaching, selling and creating work she lives and breathes art, even finding time to promote youth access to the arts, through education and artistic opportunities.  There is too much to write about Darice, an exceptional woman and incredible artist but we urge you to spend time on her website.  Spend time looking and admiring her work, art that displays depth of colour and atmosphere, work that positions your heart in a place and a time, drawing you into the composition.  Darice you are a wonderful artist that we are in awe of! Connor Maguire Interview

Connor Maguire is an Irish artist that is exceptionally talented in various mediums he works with watercolours  and oils, printmaking in the form off woodcuts, linocuts and drawings in charcoal and Graphite. He’s also an expert framer and mounts and crafts all of his own work.  Connor is an artist inspired by everyday life, personal experiences, friends and family. Creating work that depicts his perception of life in a way that is not defined by one style.   Connor produces art that is beautiful to view, portraits with a sense of being and emotion drawing you in from the eyes he so perfectly captures, oil paintings that are vibrant, impactful , full of colour with smooth lines and form.  We were so impressed with the diversity of Connor’s art, work that has been appreciated throughout the UK; he was shortlisted as the Artist of the year in 2013 in association with Artist & Illustrator Magazine and has exhibited in prestigious galleries alongside some of Britain’s greatest artists.  We’re so excited to follow his continued development in art and especially his portraiture, something which Connor has expressed his desire to build on, getting bigger and bolder with his expressive depictions of personality.  Connor is an artist to admire, an artist to follow, an artist we are very proud to introduce to you.  (more…)
