Self taught or art school?

I graduate myself in Fine Arts but it all comes down to a lot of work and practice in order to involve. It’s a constant process of learning!

If you could own one work of art what would it be?

If only I could!!! ☺ Would be amazing… have so many but I give you the two that really blow my mind when I saw them in person: “Poetry of America” from Salvador Dali “The Holy Family with the Infant John the Baptist (or the Doni tondo)” from Michelangelo Buonarroti.

How would you describe your style?

I love the figurative, I’m by nature a colorist and experimentalist and try to transport to my works, the livings and wills that I’m picking up on my day-to-day. What are your favourite places to view art?  The museums or palaces, because i can see what has been made since ever, trough the great masters and at the same time, I love to be able to imagine myself being in that era/age.

Who are your favourite artists and why?

It’s hard to name just one but without question for me is Salvador Dali because I love the way he expressed himself in his work, his imagination and creativity … the colors he used.

What or who inspires your art?

Everything and everyone…. Moves me wanting to convey something. Important people in my life, say that I’m always in the wonderland world or that I’m going after the rabbit (Alice in Wonderland) ☺ and there is not far from the truth because I’m always in abstraction, which is completely natural, don’t have a switch on and off button, but actually I “travel” enough without leaving the same place and Depending on the desires and experiences that I have in my “Getaways” of reality, the wills of creation happens.

Where’s your studio and what’s it like?

My Studio is in Lisbon, Portugal and is my sanctuary, nobody touches him besides me! ☺ Of all, is the space where I feel better and where I am with myself every day. You know those 5 minutes that people should take for them every day? Well, these 5 minutes are the hours I spend in my Studio and when I’m working, nothing else exists around me, everything stops and it’s just me with my creation.

Do you have any studio rituals?

Yes I have! Usually before I start, I like to do a little meditation and then I spend a few minutes just looking at the current work or the canvas before I start, then I take my time to do the colors, because I never use a pure one, I always mix colors to do other shades … then when I feel it’s time, I get my hands dirty!!! ☺

What are you working on currently?

At this time I am creating an artwork with a very strong meaning… This group show where I am going to exhibit my work is to raise funds for Harrison’s Fund to invest in the cure of Duchenne disease. Unfortunately it is a disease that robs too soon the lives of many boys. An inglorious disease that has no cure… yet…The ‪#‎debutartists‬ will join this cause and hope that moves us all, will certainly be for a better future! Hope is the word of the day! This exhibition will take place in Debut Contemp Gallery in Nothing Hill and will have the opening day on December 3rd, with the theme “When Boys become Men”, curated by Barry Martin artist.

What are your ambitions?

I am completely passionate about what I do and the life has giving the best for my effort and dedication, at the same time, every day I grow a little more inwardly and creatively. A natural process, in which I hope will continue to develop and continue to give me this constant feeling of satisfaction! So, be able to transmit that same beauty that I see around me, through art. Try every day to be better than the previous one, take full advantage of life, enjoy life … be happy! Don’t ever give up!
