I am a Manchester-based artist who specialises in portraiture painting, working from my home studio. I use acrylic paints as it allows me to make use of layering and for their versatility in producing an oil and/or watercolour finish.
I work from photographic references to create a bespoke and unique painting as I find that this allows me to study the sitter and helps me define and recreate their character, lending an extra dimension to an otherwise two-dimensional facsimile. It is for this reason I enjoy painting faces and bodies, creating alluring landscapes of human contours and experiences, celebrating the uniqueness of everyone I paint. Also, the human body is something that everyone can relate to and familiarise with and has been appreciated since the beginning of
civilisation. They might not know the person in the painting, but aesthetically, people instantly find similarity, differences and personality.
