Drawing has been a major part of life for Matthew for over 30 years now. At a very early age Matthew found it fun to recreate the cartoons he loved to watch on television, then found that he was good at it. Matthew was lucky enough to have family and teachers that felt the same way and nurtured his talent. Soon Matthew found that he wanted to challenge himself with more complicated and realistic subject matter. Matthew found inspiration in the infinite forms of peoples portraits weather it be texture, shape, tone or beauty. Matthew found that every portrait he draws presents its own very unique challenge to capture with a sense of realism and emotion. Matthew believes that portraiture should evoke a sense of familiarity and emotion. When creating a portrait he always try to make it unique in style and composition by devoting the highest detail to the eyes nose mouth and facial structure. While Matthew dose give attention to the hair and neckline his most pronounced focus is the fine details of the face leading the eye to what is most important in a portrait. Matthew gets a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment when a client tells me that I have captured there loved ones essence in one of his draw ins. This is what keeps him loving and passionate about his work. Matthew has had a number of shows and is a featured artist with the TickArtyBoo gallery out of Scotland UK.
